THE THREE MUSKETEERS:
Le Panteau!
Poulner Players
Poulner Church Hall
Poulner, Ringwood
February 2005

“All for one and one for all” was the cry that came from the three musketeers and so it was with the entire company of this different pantomime.
Following the tradition of principal boy this production gave us many more with the excellent musketeers Porthos (June Buxton), Aramis (Jackie Collins) and Athos (Judith Kemp) joined by Harriet Cairnes’ dashingly portrayed D’Artagnan. His Aunt, Dame Desirée D’Artagnan, a larger than life dame from John Turpin, had us all on our feet singing and laughing at Monsieur Hoh-hi-hon (Ron Sherman) and his snail.
Sally Whyte’s direction and choreography expertly moved a large chorus around the stage and cleverly accommodated the many locations although sometimes the changes were a little long and slowed up the action in places, as did forgotten lines. It was encouraging to see such a large number of young talent on stage with a wonderful comic duo of Zoot A Lor and Zach Rebleur and the villainous Roquefort (Luke Beavis) and a versatile chorus.
Scattered liberally with songs, my favourite was Roquefort and evil Richeleeugh (Peter Ansell) singing “Non, Je ne regrette rien” with his attendants performing a slick dance routine.
An enjoyable and fun evening. “Vive La Difference!”
