FRANKENSTEIN THE PANTO
New Forest Players Players
Memorial Hall
Broadstone
January 2005

FRANKENSTEIN THE PANTO New Forest Players, Memorial Centre, New Milton It is panto time again. “Oh no it isn’t”, and all the usual banter was yelled out by a totally engaged and vociferous audience. We groaned at the cringeworthy one liners, cheered, booed and whistled on cue, and even sucked our polo mints to order- well everyone knows that vampires hate peppermint breath even more than garlic.
All the cast gave one hundred and ten per cent. Frankie (Joshua Haberfield) oozed a confidence and charisma that is quite astonishing in one so young. The Dame (Richard Bushnell) was brash and funny as befits the role. When ‘she’ and the professor (Bobby Hedley) did the operation scene in silhouette the slurping sound effects thrilled the bloodthirsty youngsters. Count Dracula (Caine Morfett) and Granula(Judy Spooner) gave a powerful double act as the villains, and the little dog Kodak(Victoria Boyle) was eloquent without saying a word. The St. Trinian’s Quintet was hugely entertaining, but the highlight of the evening was a bunch of baby bats so cute that the ‘Ah’ factor was off the scale.
Lighting, costumes and sets could not be faulted, and a lot of happy, smiling faces left the Memorial Centre.
