A SPRING CONCERT
Silhouette Opera Company
St Andrews Church
Bennett Road
Bournemouthj
May 2004

ANYONE wondering about the standard of Jon Andrew’s teaching need look no further than the fact that two of his former pupils are David Habbin, now a member of the opera band Amici Forever, and Kate Royal, who has just won opera’s most prestigious prize, the Kathleen Ferrier Award, has been signed up by English National Opera and will also be singing in the Simon Rattle Rhinegold at the Proms this summer.
And his present pupils are just as talented, as this outstanding concert, to raise money for Tenovus, proved. Soloists Tracy Barrington, Jonathan Prentice, Lorraine Rowan, Francis Zaragoza, Marcus Marriott, Valerie Gillard, Helen Walton, Natasha Barnes, Elena Byers and Jon himself thrilled the audience with their vocal quality in numbers from operas such as The Flying Dutchman, Aida, La Boheme, Don Carlos and The Marriage of Figaro.
Additionally, Steppin’ Out Academy of Dance student Craig Dimmock performed a sensational ballet solo to the music of Starlight Express and pupils of Big Little Theatre School sang a superb medley from the musical Ragtime.
Evenings like this simply do not come any better, so why not make a note now that Silhouette’s next concert at St Andrew’s is on September 25. You really should be there.
