FLIGHTS OF FANTASY
One-Off Pantomine Society
Tregonwell Hall, BIC,
Bournemouth
July 2003

OOPS! Just got to keep smiling

OOPS they did it again! Their Sunday night showcase of song and dance was a wonderful way to raise money for the Julia Perks Foundation.
The One-Off Pantomine Society aim to give aspiring performers, no matter what their age or ability, the chance to get up on stage and perform.
Some much needed quicker changes and a tighter control on entrances and exits would have cut half-an-hour off the running time and I was disappointed with the continuing negative comments from compere Paula Williams, even if it was supposed to be a bit of fun.
The company had so much potential but I sympathised with them as they appeared unfamiliar with words and choreography and were quite clearly under rehearsed.
Perhaps there were certain numbers which could have been cut from the programme. However, everyone was given a fair chance to show what they could do and have some fun along the way - after all, isn't that what this is all about?
The company welcomed guest acts to assist with the entertainment including the Kaleidoscope Dancers, The Bournemouth Orpheus Male Choir and Colin Petheram.
No doubt the company will soon be in rehearsal for their New Year panto, ”Who stole out Pantomine Cow?” Just remember the first rule of performing - smile and nobody will know you went wrong!!
