Ferndown Community Association Ferndown Community Centre Ferndown July 2002 Compere Derek Cooper introduced song from Unison Theatre Company, Ferndown Phoenix Musical Society and West Moors Singers, dance from Verwood Dance Academy and Ferndown Dance Centre’s Jazz Team, music from Wessex Accordion School, Keep Fit from Extend and comedy from One-Off Pantomime Society and Len Hawker. Variety abounded, although it was a pity that all the evening’s singing came in the first half-hour rather than being evenly distributed. And, because the individual groups rehearsed separately, never getting together for a run-through, the programme over-ran by a good 40 minutes. The consequence of this was that the Association’s regular and much looked-forward to comic finale, this year “50 Years of Beauty ‘Queens’”, came at a point when I at least was wondering how soon I would be tucked up in bed with my cup of cocoa. Nevertheless, the antics of the “ladies” concerned brought the house down and provided a fitting ending to an enjoyable evening. Linda Kirkman Courtesy of the Bournemouth Daily Echo |
