Excerps from the Postbag - in chronological order - latest first
Dear LINDA and all at the Bournemouth Daily Echo
Thank you so much for a lovely evening at the Carrington House Hotel last night. The food was very good (I enjoyed the vegetarian option) and the entertainment was excellent.
It was much enjoyed by the three drama groups I am associated with and I only wish I could have stayed longer, but I have to go off to work now!
Many, many thanks for putting in a good word for me with Swan Theatre, too! It was tremendously rewarding to do one of those 'once in a lifetime' roles twice - and before I had had time to forget most of the lines! It would be lovely to see more classic plays performed by the many talented local groups.
Again, congratulations on a splendid evening and thank you for your support of local drama,
Yours,
Pam Goldsbrough

Just recently come across the site and we think it is superb. Nice to have a single point of reference to see what all the other groups are up to as well.
I help run Arena Theatre and I see that our contact details are now out of date since John King has moved. The contact number for John King is now 01202 421515, but e-mail remains the same.
(Neil then included details of Arena'a next production and a copy of their poster advertising The WizaRD and these can be seen on their web pages by clicking HERE.)
One local group not included on your list is http://www.theatre2000.co.uk who perform at the Regent Centre and on the Pier. I think a contact is found on the site if you needed to get in touch with one of their members.
I can appreciate how much work it must have taken to get it up and running, so once again congratulations on such an interesting and informative site.
Neil Mathieson, Arena Theatre.
Thanks for the kind words and for bringing me up to date, Neil and for the attractive graphic - I have updated Arena's pages. RS

Excellent site, Ray. It's also nice to see the spotlight on Lin Denning. I was in her production of "Much Ado" and thoroughly enjoyed it. On-cue is now on the Castle Players links page (if anyone ever visits our site!). Keep up the good work.
Alan Colclough, Castle Players. (www.castleplayers.com)
Thanks for the link, Alan. By the way, an elegant and attractive Castle website. RS

A round of applause. (Sorry for the cliche) About time someone put together a decent site about drama. Everything you might need is on here!!!
Gemma Nardini, President, Tascus Drama (at Leeds University)
Here's some info on us!
The Tascus Drama Society is part of the Student Union in Trinity & All Saints College, which in turn is part of the University of Leeds. Myself and another thespian (Sarah Webb) were nominated to take over the society from the original founders, as they graduate this year.
The society has only been up and running for three years, so Sarah and myself have found it extremely difficult to find scripts of a decent quality without incurring major expenses for copyright.
However, I found ON-CUE very helpful in my never ending quest for all things dramatic!
Regards, Gemma.
Can anyone help these students, please, at tascdrama@hotmail.com ?

Thanks for the email, it's nice to find other poor devils spending their time maintaining theatre-related websites. Yes, of course, use any of the articles on our site. In return I would like to use your piece on beds in amateur theatre.
Regards, Nick Fathers, Editor of Spotlight - Leicester's drama newsletter, which can be found at http://www.spotlight-magazine.org.uk.
Nick is another enthusiast beavering away in the salt mines of amateur drama. Spotlight is worth a visit

My name is David Stewart, I am a 2nd year degree student at the Arts Institute in Bournemouth. I have spent 3 months researching and planning an Amateur Theatre Website for my degree and then in today's paper, The Echo, Saturday 12 May, I find that someone else has already done it! Bugger is the word that first comes to mind.
I am, however, glad that someone has done it as there are so many Amateur Theatre groups in this area and in Dorset as a whole and something needs to be done to bring them together.
I have only just looked at the site briefly and found the usual number of spelling mistakes one would expect, but my main concern would be for the page http://www.on-cue.org.uk/product2.html as it shows what is coming on soon. Out of the 20 dates for shows, 9 of them have already expired. This page in my plan was a crucial one, how best to show what is coming on. I eventually went with the list by month, date and title. Under your current system I like St Lukes Players and so want to see their production of Blythe Spirit, but it is only after that I find that the production was way back in March. So I would urge you to change that page as it will make visitors' lives much easier. Also when a society has more than one production don't lump them together but separate them by date. I would stress Month followed by date.
I hope you don't mind me emailing you like this, but your website is GREAT although rough corners always need smoothing off.
If I can be of any help please contact me,
David Stewart
I'm sorry David if I seem to have upset your plans. I hope you will find something to take its place. Thanks for your suggestions and next season I shall detail productions in two ways - firstly a list of all the productions during the season under the name of the groups which are performing then, adding to this list so that it shows all the activity during the season 2001/2, - secondly have a calendar detailing production dates. You were right and thanks for pointing it out to me. RS

I'm pretty new to this web site creation business, but I'm enjoying it....I feel sure there is more to be done for amateur drama with the web - your on-cue site is a good start for the local scene, maybe a nation wide "am-dram portal" could be the next step? Have you any thoughts on what's next?
Have you tried to get on-cue publicised via the Evening Echo - get the URL in the Curtain Call/Noises Off pages a few times to increase awareness.
Anyway, thanks for your help,
Richard Farrow, Broadstone Players

Thanks for all your help, Richard, and for your suggestions which spurred me into action. Your website gives ample evidence of an enterprising group, who do not neglect the social side of things. RS
